How is Spam Defined?

E-mail spam, known as unsolicited bulk email (UBE), junk mail, or unsolicited commercial email (UCE), is the practice of sending unwanted e-mail messages, frequently with commercial content, in large quantities to an indiscriminate set of recipients.  If you send bulk commercial email to recipients who have not requested to receive it, it may be considered spam.

Deluxe has a no-tolerance spam policy. User accounts will be terminated if they send spam email messages.

What is the best way to avoid sending spam (or being perceived as doing so)?

Send only permission-based emails. A permission based list is a list of email addressees (persons or organizations) that have explicitly granted their permission to receive email communications from you. Import, access and use only permission-based lists. Do not send marketing emails to any person who has opted out or otherwise objected to receiving such messages from you or another sender on whose behalf you may be acting. Do not mail to distribution lists, newsgroups, or unsolicited email addresses.

What email practices should I avoid?

   (a) failing to include a working opt-out link in your email (Easy Contact helps you comply)

   (b) failing to honor opt-out requests within 10 days of your receiving notice (Easy Contact helps you comply)

   (c) using false or misleading information in the subject line of the email

   (d) using false or misleading information in the header (“to” or “from” line) of the email

   (e) addressing your email in a generic, non-specific manner, e.g. sales@domain.com

What should I do if I experience spam?

Suspected abuse should be reported to abuse@easycontact.com or at 1-888-740-0552. Spam recipients should unsubscribe from the newsletter using the link at the bottom of the email if you no longer wish to receive emails from the sender, You may also click on the “Report Spam” link in the email footer. We will take the appropriate action against the sender of the email in question.
